The vintage MK1 Escort is still thrilling fans around the world

|

Throughout the 1970s and into the 1980s, the small car was dominant in Europe, and the Ford Escort MK1 was the affordable choice of many common folk. It was cheap, simple to repair and even simpler to modify, and many were sup'd up! Modifications were so common that the Ford manufacturer got into the business of selling sport modified models, and even those were altered by their owners.

Today there are numerous MK1 clubs across the world, and they meet to show off their rides or take them out to the track to compete in their special class. Even the "Fast and Furious" series had to piggy on the popularity of the Escort when the featured a 1970 Ford Escort RS1600 in the #6 sequel (when will it end). Now it's in the Forza Motorsports video game. It's a sweet ride.
